Section 3: Z-Axis Installation

Z-Axis

Parts and Tools Required

The following parts and tools will be used in Section 3

  • Required Tools:
    • 3mm Allen Wrench
    • 4mm Allen Wrench
    • 5mm Allen Wrench
    • Small Phillips Screwdriver (PH1)
    • Adjustable Wrench

3.1 Z-Axis Installation

Section Note

Your Z axis may look slightly different than the images. The assembly and installation procedure are the same.


3.1.1

Servo Damper Install
  • Remove the lower Damper Nut from the Damper.
  • Install the Damper in the motor mount plate and thread Damper Nut onto Damper.
  • Adjust the Damper position so that the face of the Damper is 16mm (5/8") from the motor mount plate, as shown.

3.1.2

Brake Connector
  • Attach the Z axis Brake Connector to the motor mount plate.
  • Orient the brake connector with the alignment tab (inset image) toward the front of the Z axis.
  • Do not overtighten the screws.

3.1.3

Brake Harness
  • Secure the brake wire slack using the M3 Flat Head Machine Screw to lightly pinch the wires.

3.1.4

Drop Plate Removal
  • Remove the moving plate from the Z axis.

3.1.5

Dust Cover Screw Removal
  • Remove the metal dust cover screws from the Z axis and set them aside.

3.1.6

Dust Cover Removal
  • Remove the metal dust covers from the Z-Axis.

3.1.7

Z-Axis Atachment
  • Install the M8 Flat Head Screws to secure the Z axis.

3.1.8

Tighten Z-Axis Bolts
  • Tighten the indicated bolts.

3.1.9

Reinstall Dust Covers
  • Slide the metal dust covers back on the Z axis as indicated.

3.1.10

Reinstall Dust Cover Screws
  • Attach the metal dust covers using the screws removed in previous steps.

3.1.11

Drop Plate Reinstall
  • Attach the moving plate to the Z axis using the screws removed in previous steps.
