Section 7: Motor and Sensor Connections

Tabletop

7.1 Motor and Sensor Locations

7.1.1

Axis Travel

7.1.2

Assembly Note

The Y-axis sensor locations are opposite of the machine coordinate system (Shown in 7.1.1). This is necessary for the machine to home properly and does not affect the actual machine coordinate system. Ensure that your sensors are plugged into the controller ports labeled in the drawing.

(1) RD-24 Power Cable
  • Required Tools:
    • 6mm Allen Wrench

7.2.1

Power Hub Install
  • Install the Servo Power Hub on the back of the gantry at the end closest to your table cable track.

7.2.2

Power Hub Orientation
  • The Servo Power Hub should be oriented with the RD-24 panel mount facing the table cable track.

7.3 Cable Routing

7.3.1

Cable Track
  • To route cables through the cable track, use a screwdriver to lift open the individual cable track sections as indicated.

7.3.2

Motor Control Cable Routing Paths

Motor Cable Routing Path
Y1 Motor Control Directly to control box
Y2 Motor Control Directly to control box
X Motor Control Through table cable track
Z Motor Control Through table cable track and gantry cable track

7.3.3

Cable Path
  • Attach a Motor Cable Adapter to the end of each motor control cable (8 pin cables).
  • Connect each motor cable to their respective motor.
  • Route the indicated motor cables as shown. The remaining two motor cables can be routed directly to your control box without going through cable track.

Motor Control Cables

Motor Color Cable
X Motor Control Red 12'
Z Motor Control Blue 20'

7.3.4

Motor Power Cable Routing Paths

Motor Color Cable Routing Path
Y1 Motor Power Green Through table cable track then back to motor
Y2 Motor Power Yellow Through table cable track then back to motor
X Motor Power Red Directly to motor
Z Motor Power Blue Through gantry cable track
RD-24 Black Through table cable track to control box

7.3.5

Motor Power Cable Path
  • Route each motor power cable to its respective motor as indicated.
  • Connect each motor power cable to the motor.
  • Route the RD-24 cable as shown. The other end will go to the control box.

7.3.6

Sensor Cable Routing Paths

Sensor Cable Routing Path
Y1- Switch Directly to control box
Y2- Switch Directly to control box
Y2+ Switch Directly to control box
X- Switch Through table cable track

Z+ Switch Through table cable track and gantry cable track
Z Axis Brake Through table cable track and gantry cable track

7.3.7

Cable Path
  • Route the indicated sensor cables as shown (see table on next page). The remaining three sensor cables can be routed directly to your control box without going through cable track.

Assembly Note

The X+ sensor cable is routed on top of the gantry, but not inside the gantry cable track.

Sensor Cables

Axis Color Cable
X- Sensor Red 12'
X+ Sensor Pink 20'
Z Sensor Blue 20'
Z Brake Green 20'
