    AV40S 4HP Smart Spindle / VFD System

    The AV Series Smart Spindles represent one of the most exciting advancements in Avid CNC's history.

    These spindles optimize manual tool changes, improve safety, and simplify the setup/upgrade process while offering full ATC capability when paired with our upcoming retractable tool rack. The AV40S provides 4HP of cutting power and is available as spindle only upgrade for your existing 3HP or 4HP spindle controller, or as a complete system to upgrade from other cutting tools.

    Safely and quickly make manual tool changes with the AV Smart Series spindles, while also being fully ATC compatible.
    Integrated Microcontroller and Pneumatics
    The built-in microcontroller and solenoid valves manage pneumatic control for tool changes and case pressure.
    Smart Tool Change Button
    A large, easy-to-press button illuminates when manual tool changes are safe and locks out during spindle operation.
    EX Controls Integration
    In combination with our tool height setter, tool changes become quick and reliable.
    Backwards Compatibility
    The AV40S is fully compatible with existing Avid CNC 4HP spindle controllers, saving you time and up to $1000.
    Powerful Performance
    A wide operating range from 1,000 to 24,000 RPM and 4HP, ensuring optimal performance for a variety of materials and applications.
    Optimized for Production
    Designed for continuous use in demanding production environments. The spindle's electric cooling fan ensures reliable operation at lower RPMs.
    ISO30 Tool Holders
    ISO30 Tool Holders for either ER32 or ER20 collets accommodate tool shaft size up to 3/4".
    Adaptable Power Requirements
    Compatible with single-phase 240VAC.
    ATC Ready
    AV Smart Spindles are the foundation for our upcoming ATC tool rack system (Coming 2025). The pneumatically driven tool rack will retract when not in use, enabling complete accessibility to your work area for what matters most and a new auxiliary control box will manage automatic tool changes and provide a platform for future I/O expansion.

    1. Compatible with our current EX Controller and Legacy CRP800 Plug and Play CNC Control Systems (NEMA 23 and NEMA 34). For older control system revisions (CRP500 or CRP300) contact our customer support team and they can get you sorted with a customized option.
